CINNAMON
Cinnamomum verum
The inner bark is made into quills of cinnamon and used as a spice to
flavour cooking, stewed fruit and tea and the leaves make a pleasant
tea. Used traditionally as one of the Ayurvedic medicinal herbs. The
fragrant leaves and quills are used in pot pourri.
Cinnamon, native to Sri Lanka is an attractive, evergreen tree that requires a
warm climate and prefers free draining soils in a protected position
Drought and frost tender. Can grow to 8m but is usually kept
as a bush.
