ALEHOOF (Glechoma hederacea)
Alehoof is a hardy plant with medicinal and culinary uses.
Also known as Ground Ivy, it can be grown as a ground cover
that can be used as an alternative to lawn. Traditional
medicinal use for the temporary relief of cold symptoms, a
liver tonic, and tinnitus. Alehoof was also widely used in
beer brewing as flavoring, clarification, and preservative,
before the introduction of hops. A native of Europe, it
prefers moist, rich soils in a protected shaded position.
Frost resistant but drought tender. A perennial plant,
trailing to a distance of 2m.
